Divorce or custody battles can negatively contribute to an already troubled
parenting history. Supervised visitation is an opportunity for children to
maintain a relationship with the non-custodial parents. During each session
parents may play with, and care for their child in the presence of a non-biased
case adviser. In this way, a parent can focus on re-establishing a relationship
with their child during each visit without other negative influences.
Supervised visitations are often imposed by a court order when
child-based disputes become a safety
factor. Occasionally supervised
visitations may also be one part of a family therapy regimen in
which observance is part of the diagnosis.
In some cases, siblings may be placed
together to allow them to
socialize in a safe environment when children are placed in separate
foster-care families.
Child Access Services can organize meetings at a neutral location
and help create the right circumstances that encourage healthy
interactions. Our case advisers are experienced in helping parents
and children build relationships, yet respective of each parent’s
rights.
Supervised visitations help parents by:

with their child may be restored and enhanced
- Offering the opportunity for the non-custodial parent to correct
behaviors, improve care-giving skills and demonstrate their understanding
of other changes that need to be made in their role
Supervised visitations help children by:
- Creating a secure atmosphere in which the child can feel comfortable
- Maintaining a relationship with the non-custodial parent
- Providing the opportunity for children to experience changes
that
the non-custodial parent may have made
