Monitored Exchange

Monitored exchange creates an environment that encourages a relaxed child transfer between spouses.

“Whenever you're in conflict with someone, there is one factor that can make the difference between damaging your relationship and deepening it. That factor is attitude.”

Providing a Neutral Space:

Occasionally, transferring children between parents can become stressful or emotionally charged for all involved. Should these events become consistently confrontational, it may be recommended that they occur at a neutral monitored exchange location. Child Access Services can provide a convenient and neutral drop-off and pick-up location for children as well as organize the transfer to avert parent conflict.

Monitored exchanges are set up for pre-arranged times and usually allow one parent to drop off and one parent to pick up at staggered times. A case adviser supervises the entire session and is present to guarantee the child's comfort during the process. Monitored exchanges allow for a safe and easy transfer while controlling the contact between spouses.

Monitored exchanges are for parents who:

  • Have completed  supervision of any kind and are ready for unsupervised visits
  • Have (one or both) created dangerous situations during transfers in the past

Monitored exchanges help children by:

  • Providing a safe and non-confrontational transfer between parents
  • Creating a record of transfers between parents

Child Access Services provides:

  • A safe and neutral exchange location
  • An exchange timetable
  • Monitor services by an experienced case adviser
